The Ultimate Hardcore Experience

So Brian Davison and I, just on a whim, decided on Thursday that we would go to a Haste The Day concert on Saturday in Nashville. Boy am I glad I did...

We got to The Anchor at about 6:30, waiting for the doors to open at 7. Our anticipation continued to mount as we waited for Jimmy and his crew (Haste The Day - ditto!) to perform. Bedlight For Blue Eyes, Scary Kids Scaring Kids and Halifax all put on fairly good shows, but man oh man let me tell you about Haste The Day.

For any Hardcore/Screamo fans out there, Haste The Day (HTD) is the best band in my opinion, out there. Not only are they christian, but they deliver a positive message in their songs and lyrics (Sorry older people, you may need to read the lyrics since you can't understand the screaming - much love). Their show only lasted about an hour, to my sadness. However, it was probably the highlight of my weekend (after going to California for Thanksgiving how can you complain?)

If you would be interested in experiencing a little of Haste's magic, then check out a song as well as a music video. http://www.myspace.com/aboutbenjamin - Welcome to Christian Hardcore :) Posted by Picasa

The Score That Matters

At right is probably the symbol of the largest and most important test any high school student can take. If you still aren't certain what that test is - the ACT. The actual words beneath the acronym are irrelevant, but the object of all our toil, the very test that will either liberate us or entangle us into the Community College scene is this test. With all the blabber over with, I just wanted to let all my loving readers that I did rather well on the ACT that I took in October.

I scored a 30 (with a 36 being a perfect score). To be completey honest, I was a little shocked, in a humble way of course. My personal goal was a 28, so I guess I went a little above and beyond with my expectations; nothing wrong with that!

So anyways, I suppose that's a rather optomistic score considering I'm only a junior and have Mrs. Edwards to look forward to on getting a higher score in English and Reading (I got a 34 and 31, respectively), Miss Robertson to help me bring up that 29 in Math, and I'll have to not drink two 16 oz. energy drinks next time to achieve a higher score on the Science Reasoning (My lowest score by far at a 24 - It was the same as Buffy's though :P)

For all of you young high school readers out there, I would encourage you to take an ACT prep course. I am fairly sure those two points had to do a little with the ACT Prep class offered at our school. Posted by Picasa
